I have to admit I thought it was hoax and that it would turn out to be a crushed water bottle!
Odd indeed... even odder that this animal wasn't reported before given its supposed wide range.

Salps i what they are supposed to be ... but I think there are so many different forms or shapes of them that it is hard to say ... looks like them though but then the comparison to a crushed water bottle is a good one
