Hey, just wondering if anyone has experience with submersible sterilizers? What I particularly have an issue with is that the one I have is rattling. I have had it for over 1 year and it takes care of preventing any green outbreaks. I am wondering what it could be that causes noise to happen. I have never got to see the propeller/motor on this one. When I take it apart..I have only been able to clean the pre-filter of muck..Im not sure how or if I should attempt to try to get at the motor part of it. But when I put my ear up to the glass of the tank..I hear what my fish are hearing..and I dont think they enjoy that very much. I have purchased this one from Rick's in Pembroke..I have not asked him about the issue although I am probably going to have to in order to see how I can make it quiet again..if possible.

What do you think I should do? What does anyone generally do when something rattles?

This is the model I have below:

Thank you.  :D

Chances are it`s the impeller since it the only moving part.
I have no experience with this type of UV so I can`t assist in how to get to the part, perhaps Google might be of help or Ricks.
Good luck

Thanks Charlie..I also have a Rena filter that rattles a little..when I look at the propeller its fine..not broken looking..unless these parts just need to be replaced after some time as well. I will most likely try to contact Rick since he was the one who suggested the UV to me..there must be some way for me to open it where the issue is.

Check the impeller spindle. Feel the metal with you nail along it's length. If there are grooves that is the problem. Too much play. I recently had this problem with an old powerhead.
