I was cleaning my filter tonight and I broke my a part on my Eheim filter. Does anyone know where I can get a new part in town?

I can't figure out how to open the part - but I suspect it looks like this inside: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5272/6910646438_72a99ffbce.jpg
notice how the teeth on the gears can break.

I guess I should be more careful...

Recently had a similar problem with an Eheim canister filter. If the LFS can't get the replacement part for you, I ordered online from www.eheimparts.com it was here in 4 to 5 days.

When you ordered from eheimparts.com did you have to pay any extra fees or duty?

The part is 32.03 + 7.00 shipping = 39.03USD = 48.89CAD

I pulled open the part to see what was broken:

You can see the two teeth on the gears that broke. In the last picture you can see the clips that release the housing.

I might fix it with a few pex ball valves like this:

I would leave the Eheim valves in the open position and attach the ball valves just above the assembly.

Not familiar with Eheim so is this it?  If so, the store should be able to order it for you.

The part was about $7 and I paid $4 postage. All US so I am sure I will see the exchange rate on my c/c!

Probably better ordering from Eheim & while at it buy 2.

Just saying - once a member had an emergency & needed a Eheim part, the local stores could not help him but the Point Claire Big Al`s offerd to give him the much needed part from a New in stock filter while he paid for the par & they replaced it when it came in ...... Think our local stores will help that way?, worth a try.

email ehiem first. tell them what happened in detail and add the pics if you can they may decide that it is covered and the part my be free.

If Big Al's orders the part it will take on the order of 2 to 3 weeks from my experience. I'm going to order an Eheim filter part tomorrow. For a Pro II, probably a 2026. I'm going through https://www.eheimparts.com/index.php. But I'm in no rush and will stipulate regular post for delivery. I don't ever want UPS to deliver from the states. They add a huge mark up.

I think Eheim North America ships out of Canada if I'm not mistaken, Montreal in fact.

Wolfiewill - Want to split on shipping? I can order both or you can order both, I'm okay either way.

I emailed and got a very quick response from Jenny. She confirmed that no extra tax/duty will be added. She also said that the parts ship from Champlain NY.

I broke the old part a little more to make it "work" again. I broke off the rest of the teeth from the gear and removed the arms that pop out of the unit. I then aligned the ball valves to be always open. I'm going to keep the old part as a spare - I could add a few external ball valves from any hardware store if I need it in future. Here is a picture of how I "fixed" it.
