In memoriam - 2017

Thought I'd put up a post to remember those we lost this year. Inspired by Peter's post on the loss of Herbert Axelrod back in May (http://ovas.ca/forum/index.php?topic=60528.0)
He was controversial, but you can't deny his impact on the fishkeeping industry.

Perhaps we can also mention those institutions we lost this year as well:

• AquaInspiration in Marham (as per Errol's post: http://ovas.ca/forum/index.php?topic=60973.msg340505) and
• Big Al's in Kanata

Here's another one - although not technically occuring in 2016, but we found out this year, again through Errol. Ron Hay, "Rockgarden", a former member of our club (see: http://ovas.ca/forum/index.php?topic=60755.0). It was sad to hear of his passing. He was a fun person to be around - loved his blog and the photos he took of our events. He will be missed.

On a cultural front - there were several of course, but the one that stood out for me was Tom Petty. I saw him for the first time at Bluesfest in July. Seeing him was on my "bucket list" for a few years. Never thought he would pass away a mere few months after the concert. And days after his 40th anniversary tour. Very sad.
