Salt for fresh water tank

I've bought from someone suggestion fresh water aquarium Salt to help me getting rid of microscopic worms in one of my tank. After reading the info on the package I've found out that they recommend that we should always add fresh water aquarium salt to our tank. Any opinions or thoughts on that  ?

Generally,

It's considered a good idea. I've never done it.

But remember. You only does for what you're adding in.

For example, if you have a 10g, and do a 25% water change, you only add enough salt for 2.5g of water


And kosher salt supposedly works just as well
