Magnetic Scraper Rejuvenation?

Anyone notice that the pads on the magnetic scrapers eventually stop working?

Has anyone come up with a method to rejuvenate them?  I've just replaced a small one that has essentially become useless...

buy some velcro from dollarama, pull off the old 'scrubber' and 'marine goop' a new one on usinf the hooked half of the velcro
