Fish "room" discussion and planning.

Hi all,

Just looking for a quick discussion re fish room. I've seen lots of internet posts but always find the best advice comes from right here on Ovas.
I'll update with my thoughts. I have a couple unfinished walls near my furnace that I'm considering framing and adding more electrical. I do have a floor drain nearby.
Goals and ambitions - just to have fun?
Recurring theme with more experience members is keep it simple and not too many tanks.
I don't get much done on my tanks in the summer months.

First two questions:
Framing with wood rather than steel studs is necessary I imagine?
Also, because of chloramines, a carbon-block filter for auto-drip doesn't really work for us correct?
