Electronic Water Test Meters

Got the pH meter today.  A Hanna Checker.  Not anywhere NEAR as easy to use as the TDS meter, you have to calibrate it and it doesn't seem to like moving water (i.e if you just drop the probe into the tank the readings fly all over the place).  Calibrated it with 7.01 and 10.01 calibration fluids, and am experimenting.

I've had a bit of success with my electronic test array so far (TDS, pH, Thermometer).  One of my 30gals has a batch of Cobalt Blues that won't eat and are way too shy...so tonight I whipped out the bat-gatgets and determined that the heater in the tank was failing and the water was too cold (the stick on LCD thermometer was bad!).

Those stick-ons are brutally awful. I don't know why anyone gets them.

Interesting thread though... Gives me some different toys to invest in! :D

Yep, I'm done with the LCD Thermometers.  You know why people get them?  Because they are CHEAP, and they look good.

I beg to differ. They're not all that much cheaper than the glass ones that are sold in pet shops (seriously, they're not, at least not at SP) and I don't think a big sticker on the front of a nicely scaped tank makes things look better.

Which Ebay seller did you order your ph tester from?

Well, I totally agree with you now.  When I was a fish newb, and I was buying thermometers, I for some reason thought they looked cool compared to the "old fashioned" looking glass ones.  Never again.

I bought from 'proaquatica'.  Here's the meter I bought:
