Sometimes there is a proof of purchase required as the lifetime warranty is only extended to the original purchaser of the item. Or the item needs to be registered with a copy of the original bill of purchase along with location... So I guess it's not so obvious...

BigDaddy

I replaced a Visitherm Stealth with Aquarium Systems.  They didn't even ask for the old one back... they simply asked me which model was broken and sent me a new one in the mail.

Thus... no need for a receipt.

Hagen would appear to be the same way, since I got a replacement part free from them, and others on the board have also had good customer service without receipts required.

I never submerse my heaters anymore.I had a heater in a sump that supplied to tanks full of 2' koi.The seal on it broke and i lost about 25 koi.I will never submerse any of them again.I learned my leason the first time.
My 2 cents.

I thought about submersing my heaters until I read an article about a guy who died of electricution because the heater broke while he was doing water changes. Alwasy unplug your heaters when doing water changes!

FishBuddy

Very good point TBarb....  I've alway turn off my power bar (so that means everything off!) and unplug it from the wall when I do my tank maintenance...  And for those of you who haven't done so already, it's wise to have your aquarium electricals plug into a GFCI circuit (similar to your bathroom plugs)....   It might very well safe your life someday when you least expected :-)

Well, here's the thing...It's a 100w heater.  That means I probably paid about $20-$30 for the thing.  I don't remember where I bought it from (PROBABLY SP Kanata, but I can't be sure) or when (although I could guess probably October of last year).  How would I go about getting the warranty to cover this?  Contact Hagen?
