If you bought it at BA, they should have a record of the purchase on their systems.  I know I took back some stuff to Andrew, and he had my purchase on file.

I just bought a zoo-med 228 last week. The mech for the rotating head seems pretty simple, is it broken?

I pulled out my recipt and it says "No Refunds - Exchanges only within 30 days, Original packaging required"

Did you save your little FAQ sheet that came with it? If your impeller is up at full speed Either the gears are dirty, miss-aligned or worn out. Zoo-Med might be able to help aswell.

I took the bottom part out.....
and carefully cleaned.....it
thinking it might be dirty as this power head
is being used for my reef.......
I even cleaned with vinager as is recomended on the book
luke warm water as well....
but nop. Nothing seems to work .
it has just stopped working ??? ??? ???

If you put all the gears together in the bottom part and spin the impeller does it turn the gears? is the impeller facing the right way?

When I got mine I took it all apart to see how it worked. It took me a couple of tries to get it back together right. I ended up having to read the instructions   :-[

I hope its not broken. It does seem a bit cheeply made and I have never even heard of zoo-med before this. Their website sux too  :-\

Not sure about replacement/refund. If you will check - let us know.

Now about the powerhead. Got mine on the latest box day sale and was happy for a week or two. Nothing is broken and it works like a charm when I'm testing it with tap water, but...
First of all, it is rotating with different speed back and forward. It depends on the angle under which i fix it in the tank.
The second, if I turn it off and than on, it never rotates any more.
Found only one interesting solution: after regular cleaning I starting my powerhead when it is not fully submerged yet. Yes, a lot of these air bubbles, but it starts working and working till I once again shut it down. If this happens -> see above
>:(

Are you guys using the little airtube thing? I notice mine only sucks air from one side of the sweep.

Usually less air bubbles you have in tank - better. So, the air tube is not attached.

Zoo Med sweeper powerheads suck, LARGE.
The rotational thing craps out after a couple of months, in just about 90% of cases. Avoid like the plague!

ok folks, all my powersweeps are working fine again, i bght 6 last year and 5 stopped rotating until i cleaned them for the first time last wk, now they are good as new, it should work fine for you too, i broke a tiny pc on one of the nozzles but it still works!
