ok im getting ready to set up my 75gal tommorrow..

i will get tank home.. put it in wall in my DIY stand.. make sure its level.. then i will add washed mermaid pool sand in the tank.. 2-3" bed.. then i will start to fill up tank.. while tank is filling i will place rocks and mopani wood..  when tank is near full i will install filter and add in heater..

ok this is were it gets tricky.. do i let the tank settle with water a bit before turning on heater??(temperature reasons?) like 3 hours or all night? so thermometer get used  to room temp or something?

aswell should i wait to turn on filter?

thanks all..

im so excited tommorrow i get to see my tank in  the wall!!!!

The heater manufacturers generally rec 30 mins in the water before plugging the heater(s) in, to acclimate to the temp of the tankwater. Remember, you *can* use lukewarm/cool water by utilising the hot water tap ( I do it all the time, no issues here at all).

As for the filter, go ahead and turn it on as soon as the tank is filled.

If you are using the pool sand, you might want to stick to no more than 2 inches though... 3 might be pushing it as far as compaction/anaerobic pockets.

ok will do.. this sand is like a small gravel tho..

If the tank will be heavily planted... the roots will also help stop the pockets
