Does anyone know common causes of death in brigs?

I had 2 large brigs that I got from roxydog at the same time, they both grew to the size of ping pong balls.  A couple of days ago the largest (very cool purple colour too :( ) was one its "back" with the flap wide open and everything hanging all out.  It was still in that position yesterday so I concluded that it was dead.

Everything else in the tank (another brig, apistos, rummy noses, cories, MTS) are fine.

The snails were my daughter's favourite things in the tank, I'd hate to lose the second one.

Thanks,
Andrew

Hello,
I've got some of Roxydogs purple's also - they're the hit of the tank.

To confirm if it's dead, try tugging gently on the door (operculum) with your nail - if there's resistance then it's not dead.
Also, dead snails stink something terrible.

Do you feed them specific stuff for them?  It is possible for them to starve if they aren't given their own food/steamed/frozen greens.

If your water parameters are fine, then that's the first thing I would look at.

Good luck.

Keep in mind that snails don't live long.  Now yours died earlier than expected, and the 3 I have left from around the same time are fine.  Also, Laura's are still doing well and she was the first one to get them from me.  They have shorter lives in warmer temperatures, and definitely need to be fed, that's all I know.  I'm sorry to hear one has passed away, I wish I could tell you why sometimes they die off quickly and sometimes they just keep on trucking.  :(

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.  So love the people who treat you right.  Forget about the one's who don't.  Believe everything happens for a reason.  If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it.  Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
