I picked some up at Canadian Tire, and it doesn't foam when i shake it.. and is crystal clear in color.. and doesn't say any ingredents.. except " Contains Ammonia hydroxide" wrtten on label..

any how.. i used it and placed 5ppm of ammonia on sunday.. and monday it was down to about 2.0ppm.. and i added few more eyedroppers to bring it to 3ppm..

so last night i tested and i had Nitrite.. 0.05- .1ppm is it normal for them to start converting already?

also is it because of all the plants i recieved from established tanks?

Thanks all!!

If you had plants from established tanks, yes.  While most of the nitrifying bacteria collects in the oxygen rich media in the filter, some will collect on surfaces within the tank, including plants.  However, don't forget that plants preferred nitrogen source is ammonia, so some of the ammonia will be used by the plants before the bacteria ever gets a chance to get a hold of it.

Since you have nitrite, you will probably want to start testing nitrate now too, since you obviously will have an accelerated cycle.
