I measured this guy and it is now about 4.25" long not bad for less then 8 months of growth (Started at 1.25-1.5")

Nice! Any of them start growing the hump on the head? Mine are starting.

No humbs yet this is 1 of the 3 biggest (I think this was actually the second biggest) I caught this guy in the net when catching my yellow labs last night so I thought it would be a good time for checking the size and a very very quick pic.

cory

I think my largest is 5" you can be the judge when you come though. I can only eye ball sizes.

Karen, I can't wait to have 8-12" fish in my tank. You are so lucky!!! :)

I see similar growth rate. I got my group about 11 months ago at 1.5", the males are 6"-7" with nice hump, females are 4"-5". They grew very quickly to ~3", then slowed down and grew at a steady slow rate.

Compared to my CA cichlids, they grow so slow. My Dovii's grew to 12" in 12 month from 2".

Looking good jdx. It appears your female in the one pic is similar size to my biggest. I hope my females hit the 4.5-5" mark in April and My males are 6-7 like yours.

So you have while before they will be breeding... Best of luck.
