Hello, I have 2 oscars in a 55 Gallon tank. both under 5 inchs one is a LITTLE smaller then the other oscar,

Today when I looked at my oscar both of them had scrapes and cuts, however my smaller oscar looked pretty bad,   no new ornaments have been added to the tank, so am I left to assume that the two were fighting?    I'm rather baffled, I have ornements and driftwood and rocks, So theoretically they could have BOTH scrapped themselves on the same day at the same time, but I am leaning towards an argument.

The concerning part is Ive never seen this before, they have always been the best of friends, and are even acting like that now, swimming peacefully together around the tank, often times they nuzzle with each other aswell.

Any Suggestions?  I'm hoping I don't have to get rid of one of the oscars, :( i have grown VERY attached to them, I know 55 gallon is the minimal tank size for 1 oscar, I guess I knew eventually I would have to get rid of one :(

YOUCH!

It could be that they are scrapping for territory, are borderline "mature" and are feeling each other out.

Just keep up with the waterchanges, add a little salt and Melafix, and watch them like hawks. You should be ok for a while before getting them their 75-90g that they really should have.
