It depends on the kind of mollies you want to put in the tank. Sailfin mollies get pretty big. If you want sailfins...I'd say no more than 30. That's just my opinion.

You also have to remember that they breed pretty easy and if you have enough cover a fair bit of the fry could survive and you will overrun with them before you realize it.
