Im getting a Oscar =)

Wife saw the a large one a bigs als and it followed her back and forth in the tank..  she said its ugly but very personable.. lol..

she wants a baby tho..

but anyhow i make my own Saltwater food.. and was wondering if i can do the same for the oscar..

fresh fish/beef heart/spiral flake.. type combination? if i blend it all up and freeze it..

also do they make vitamins for fish? maybe add that to the mixture lol...

i want a big health one

Ever see a swimming pig? You will when you get  your Oscar.They eat almost anything!!!!!!! Hope you have a big tank (55G+ for just one oscar is recomended) and plenty of filtration..If you plan on taking the chance of smaller tankmates make sure to put them all in as juvies and let them grow up together.Making your own food with them should not be a problem at all just watch what you throw in doesnt cloud the water.Some Oscars "play" with their food spitting it out and reswallowing.Heres a great resource.....

I'm a member of oscarfish.com and its probally THE best forum on the internet for information on oscars, and even for other fish as most of the fish keepers there are very experianced.  Great articles and pictures aswell.  

There are lots of great articles on making your own fish food for oscars.  And it is a very common practice.
