Where can I get this stuff in Ottawa?  I don't need very much, maybe 8 galls per month, so I don't want to install an RO unit. Just want to buy the water.

Any ideas?

well if you're in Kanata, you can get 5gals for 3.50 no tax, on Hazeldean Rd across from Farm Boy (thanks Beertech!)
Tanks: salty nano cube, working on a fresh 125

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.  So love the people who treat you right.  Forget about the one's who don't.  Believe everything happens for a reason.  If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it.  Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

...its called Aquatica, and is just RO  (not DI),  but the TDS is 0

I should be receiving a brand new RO/DI unit in next week.  I am at greenbank/baseline and you can purchase the water from me if it is to your convenience.

Try this guy.

I get all of my water from him and you can bring your own water jugs.
$4.00 for 5gal. no tax.
I bring him those blue camping water jugs and he fills them for me.
Tell him what you are using it for.

Is this water something you can get at Loblaws or something? I'd try wateruniverse but they're pretty far from where I live.
Do they have RO/DI, or just RO and DI? And if so, which is better, RO or DI?

thanks!

you can go to any shopper's drug mart home depo and you can get culligan R/O... I am not sure about the DI part but the culligan is the most cosistant for reading 0 on the TDS meter..where do you live

I'm at St Laurent and Mtl... I suppose I'll check at Shoppers, but they never seem to have anything bigger than 2 L.

I was just at Loblaws...they sell 28 Litres of water for about $4 which is filtered through carbon, RO and UV treated.  Comes from a help yourself machine...not sure where the jugs come from though.

FISHEYE

That sounds great... which Loblaws?

Alchemist

Kingston :)  but they should have something similar near you I would imagine....most of the stores seem the same ....

mlee

I believe the Loblaws at Mcarthur and Vanier Parkway has that setup.

Tynan Rasmus

Loblaws also sells distilled water if you wanted to use that. I use it as its much easier for me to get around here. Until I get a RO/DI unit that is.

Buying an r.o. unit seems like a good investment at first, but you have to realize that there is going to be a large percentage of waste water that goes down the drain for a small amount of r.o. water. For someone who owns their home and pays a water bill, this can add up quickly.I have heard that some people somehow direct the waste water to their washing machine.Does anyone know what the actual percentage of waste is, and how hard is it to do the washing machine thing?
Thanks, Gord.

I got a home unit more for the convenience, than economics.
Buying water turned out to be too much of a chore...

The units simply have a waste hose, and you can put it when ever you want.
It is usual to pierce an ABS drain, but can put into a dirty pail / washing machine directly,
but then you need to worry about overflow...

I bought Labrador water from SuperStore. I'm on my second bottle. The first bottle seemed to be working well for the top off and algae wasn't growing rampant. The second bottle is terrible. Algae is back and in full bloom.

I'm going to try Aquatica next...
