Does this happen to anyone else?  Start doing something, on the way walk by x tank, stop, hmm how are my fishies doing today?  Stare at tank for a time...oh right, what was I doing again?  Continue on with task, walk by a different tank and stop....well, you get the picture. :)  I imagine this is a worse problem for those of us with many tanks.  Or maybe I'm just weird.. :)

I only have one tank....but it's in my living room in the middle of my house and it happens to me all the time. I don't think I'd ever get anything done if I had multiple tanks!

hahahah if you are weird I am a certified mental case. I get distracted by everything other than what really needs doing. Hmm I should do the dishes now...wait it's time for the CBC news...first I'll check my e-mail...I wonder how my friend is I should call them first...I really need to do my laundry soon....is that snow? I'll just shovel the driveway before it gets dark....Hey the water needs to be changed in the 90G...I wonder how the new Synodontis is getting on with the Demesoni in the 35G? Where was I? Oh ya...the dishes....and on and on

Just think of the exercise you get backtracking to try to figure out what you were supposed to be doing.   ;D

Yeah, at the end of the day the dishes are still dirty but the tap is running, still snow in the driveway but now the garage door is open and the shovel is out, water's not changed yet, but all accessories needed are now strewn about on the floor ready to be used...it's been a productive day! ;D ;D

Had this happen today, as a matter of fact!  Actually, I got miffed, because I kept trying to get the LAST cup of coffee (we're Timmy's nuts, we have the coffee maker and buy the Timmy's coffee!), I tried four or five times, always getting distracted by either the tanks or the pond, and finally I get to the kitchen AND HUBBY HAD TAKEN IT!!!  GRRRR!

Good thing it only takes about 3 minutes to brew a pot with this machine. :)

That's why I have a chair with wheels! 8) :D ;) :)

sooo true - but not a problem, more the reason why we turn our appartments into little aquatic zoo's. Those little guys are just fun fun to look at.  :)

Well I can tell I am in the right place!  :D I do not feel so whacky... oh one sec... is that Cory ever cute... 10 minutes later... Where was I? I love watching my fish & plants I walk by then see something or when I am sitting here notice a plant needs pruning then... 15 minutes... OK, OK my tanks do make my mind drift off. My memory is not what it once was so sometimes I easily get... 30 seonds... Oh yeah my memory so I stop to do something in a tank and then I totally forget where I was heading in the first place.

No matter what I love just sitting staring at the little characters. I take better care of them then myself... LOL Nice to know I am not alone... LOL  :o

Ack!  You lot are all wingnuts for sure, I have never let the tanks interfere with a proper cigarette on the balcony, there is rarely anything going on in there that can't wait just another 6 1/2 minutes more. ;D

Cheebs

Well being a 22 year old college student,  and having just delved into the hobby,  I always get distracted by it.  I rarely watch tv now and I've given up almost entirely on video games, which I used to love.  I just sit down and watch this insanely fascinating contained ecosystem I have sitting right beside me.  Only problem is it sidetracks me from school too :P

I have mine sitting NEXT to the tank, so I don't miss anything!  ;D

Everytime Babble is having his cigarette, not thinking about aquariums, I am busy feeding, changing water, making kissy faces at the fish, while he's doing the crossword and giving the pigeons second hand smoke issues. Meanwhile, the fish are doing backflips trying to get his attention on the way to the balcony. JF follows him the length of his tank, saying in his fishy way, hey there, look at me, am I not handsome, admire me...hellooo.  I'm waiting for him to splash some water on Babble, just to get him to look over,  and hang out for a minute.  Perhaps JF needs to offer him a shmoke and a pancake.  :)

The trick about getting distracted by aquariums is to get absorbed by the beautiful things; sometimes I stop and look and think about algae, or pruning plants, the never ending aquatic to do list.  The best times are discovering baby fish you hadn't noticed, like the corydoras sterbai babies I suddenly noticed in the driftwood that had managed to survive the apistogrammas in the tank to become perfect miniatures of their parents.  That moment was magically mesmerizing.  That's what it's all about for me, to have created an ecosystem natural enough that life is created, and to be continuously surprised by what the fish are up to in their world.

I bought 3 Rosy barbs. I've always liked Barbs and want Tigers one day. I've researched them a lot I walk by their tanks in the LFS convenience myself they will be OK in my community but them come to my senses only to walk away.

Well I decided a few Rosy will tie me over... LOL I sit and watch these guys to no end now. Have had them for about 2 weeks. I also have 3 banded barbs and they all shoal togeather. One of my mid. size YoYos is having an identity crisis he thinks he's a barb and swims with them now avoiding his own friends... LMAO

I was going to reply to this thread earlier, but I had to re-plant some Micranthemum umbrosum my Geos decided relocate.  In short, that would be a yes  ;D

Fishnut

Alright, alright, I also fall victim to my tanks and so do my meals  ::)

Here's a new one though...I overcooked pancakes because I was reading something interesting on OVAS sunday morning.   :o

renadia

You can find me sitting or laying down on the floor in Vincent's room watching the froggy, shrimps snails and fish. It's the cutest 10 gal (soon to be 20) pirate tank  ;D

After a hard day at work I sit in front of my 75 gal and check my fish. I count to make sure everyone is in there and well just admire them.

Every morning and night a play the staring game with my Koi's and Goldie's  :D

The best part of it is feeding time,  feed most of them by hand with frozen bloodworms  :) They come up to me as soon as I approach the tanks. My angel will keep on eating the piece I'm holding even if I move it.
They are just ADORABLE   :-*
