Why is the 'e' in pleco always have a *?

and why, at the top of a forum, there are names in different color? on my screen, most people are blue, but some are dark blue, and few a red...
???

Dunno about pl*cos, but the people whose name is in red are usually OVAS executive.

I believe this is a superstition that if you type pleco your pleco will die.

And yes, the pl*co thing stems from a net legend about somebody who talked about his pleco, and then it died, so now some people type pl*co to keep the fishy karma at bay.

Yes, but I'm superstitious. :)  You will never catch me typing pl*co without the *.  Stems from way back in my BBS days.  As they say, old habits are hard to break.
