Star Moss

I saw in the classifieds someone was thinking of ordering Star moss.  There seems to be some questions as to whether it is actually aquatic or completely terrestrial; we will just have to see what happens.  The first pic is mine, the second is what it is supposed to turn out like.





After having tried to grow it for about 2 months I belive I can say that it is not aquatic; at least the version that I received.  It appears that AQ has sent out 3 or 4 versions of this moss; some not even in the same genus!

If anyone is ever interested in some really nerdy but accurate info on mosses killies.com is the best site that I am aware of.

FYI...I am pretty sure the version of star moss that I have is the so-called "cement moss"

It is beautiful though. Must get around to building that paludarium...
