Question on filtration

Hi.

Currently I am looking for a new canister filter for my 20 gal tank. I think that my choice will fall on Rena Filstar filters.

On one of the forums, 50% people suggest to buy XP2 motivating that by the bigger canister volume, the second half suggests XP1.

My concern that XP2 will create a huge water current in the tank, but most people claim that having a spraybar, will reduce the flow dramatically. In addition to that the flow will decrease as the bacteria colony grows.

Any ideas?

But the problem is, is it really worth it to have a filter with the flow rate of 300 g/h for a 20 gal tank?

Thats 15 times versus conventinal 5-6.

Hi
It depends on what type of fish and what type of load you are going to have in the 20gal. For that size any Aquaclear or Whisper will do the job. Personally for that size I would go with  Hyro sponge filter and a air pump

for a 20 gallon tank I would just go with an Aquaclear 150..it doesn't require that much filtration
