I have a teeny little 2.5, with about 18 wats of compact fluorescent, going to be a single coral tank.

My ideas so far are just to chalk it full of zoathinds......
or
Have lots of pulsing xenia like the tank at marinescape....

What would you put in it if it was your tank?

Vallely4

......never thought of that
Wooooow could you imagine a teeny 2.5 with ONLY pulsing xenia, the entire tank in constant motion...  Nobody, especially myself wouldn't enjoy xenia overunning, or even crawling onto surrounding rockwork, but a tank chalk full would look too kool.

Imagine just like hide it as a centre piece on a dining table or something. wow :D lol
Or full of encrusting gorgonian. what would be kool is if you could shape all the rockwork how you want it, and picture it encrusted in whatever coral.
You could use mainly baserock if you wanted cover with just xenia i'm sure too

Sharbuckle

leaning towards the xenia, any other ideas out there?

I'd have to vote for zoas.  at least you get colour choices that way.  if not zoas, then maybe mushrooms.
Tanks: salty nano cube, working on a fresh 125

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.  So love the people who treat you right.  Forget about the one's who don't.  Believe everything happens for a reason.  If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it.  Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Sharbuckle

never thought of mushrooms, thats a good possibility

fishdaddy

why not try all three?!?!?! The tank looks cool think i will try one on mon if there is one in the lot of tanks i got. I think that i am going to try leathers and mushrooms..Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ;D

okay, mushrooms...hmmmm thinking that mushrooms is the way i might go, next question, how well will the shrooms do under 10w, 50/50 lighting, i could always get another desklamp

Tyler.L

rics and yumas would be my choice with some zoos...color is key!

I'll edit this also to add gsp on the glass on the back of the tank! Great Success!

Sharbuckle

;D yeaahhh.... that would defeat the one coral only purpose, but who knows, maybe that wont happen

RoxyDog

I'm thinking you'd be okay with that light, most shrooms don't need much.

if you decide to go for ric's, yuma, and Zoa.. just keep in mind that they will need more light, if you look at what Zoe did she had 2 lights on her tank. and the colors kept very nicely
90 gallon/ 90 gallon sump all male show tank, 75g Accie, 75g masoni reef alonacara, yellow lab and trio of flame backs, 75 gal tawain reef, 75 gal bi500, red shoulder, blue regal,
40 gal breeder  F1 electric blue frierei, 25 gal sunshine peacock males awaiting females, 20 gallon trio albino pleco, 65gal neolamprongus Brachardi pulcher 2 30g fry grow out, 20g hatchery with 4 batches of eggs currently
Starting on a fish wall for breeding more coming soon!

Based on the lighting, what about gorgonia?

Otherwise I would go for mushrooms.
