Hey!
I came back from a 2 week vacation (my sister-in-law was tank and parrot sitting), and while I was away, a few things happend:
-my clownfish decided to host my anemone, after 2 months of being very afraid of it, which is good  :)
-my chili coral stopped eating, which is bad  :(
-my royal gramma had ich to the point that it was swimming close to the surface and had trouble breathing, which was also bad  :'(

I think I got rid of the ich after using a reef-safe product (!), my fish is doing great after 2 weeks, no more signs of ich (!!!).  :D
My chili is still not feeding, though. It hasn't eaten for the past 3 weeks, unless it opens in the middle of the night (it was opened about half the day before I left). I did water changes before I left and after I came back (because of the ich problem, I did changes once a week since I came back, I usually do one every 2 weeks). Params doing great, no nitrates (there were a bit when I came back, but nothing alarming... about 0.05) nor any other abnormalities.  ???
I really liked it, hope I can save it... It's been in my tank since March, and, as I said, was opened very often and was growing pretty fast. I fed it about every 2-3 days with cyclopeeze and marine snow when it was opened.

Does anyone have any idea about if this is normal? Is the coral dead? Its colour hasn't changed much.
Cheers!

Funny thing, I just had an idea... what if the flow was a bit different from before for some reason?
Could that be a reason why my chili won't open?
Just a thought... ???

We have a large chili coral and during the day, it always looks like death warmed over, like a red bumpy blob, half it's inflated size, because it's nocturnal. We've never seen it eat because she only opens her polyps up after dark, when the moonlights are on. Ours is doing fine. It continues to grow so it must be eating and we don't target feed her. The chili does like moderate to medium flow so a reduction in flow could certainly affect it. Also, check her at night, a couple of hours after dark. You should find her re-inflated with her polyps open. Good luck! :)
