Bad news for me... we got our End of Year Tournament schedule last night for Apr. 3-5. If we win and advance to the semi-finals that game will be at 4pm @ Fred Barrett (Leitrim Rd.). Of course we want to win and have a good team so they just very well could advance to the next round.

Just to put the legality issue of 50/50 to rest , you would normally need a permit, but it`s perfectly legal & ok to have one without such permit/licence providing you have a skill testing question , this was told to me by the city of Ottawa a few months ago .

Lol...why do these things require a skill testing question to be legal?  Here's my suggestion for a skill testing question:

What plant is the easiest to grow in an aquarium?

The quiz , i`ll do it this time around, it`s a few question directly related to planted aquarium with 4 or 5 multiple choice answers, whoever wants to attempt it will tick their answer, we then have a peek at the correct answers make the corrections & keep it, that will then serve as a good reference , so basically no high/pass marks or competition.
I`m not in favour of bringing gifts to exchange , i think that is better served at a Xmas party etc, we will try to keep the emphasis for planted tank hobbyist to interact in a non structured atmosphere one on one , learning from each other, regardless of if you want to start, have just started or have been doing planted tanks since you were conceived  , This a bunch of hobbyist with a specific interest , getting together on their own accord, outside of the club`s program

Perfect timing...I'm through with limp, sickly looking plants.  Sounds like a great opportunity to gain a little plant knowledge...I won't be bringing much to the table save my glowing personality. lol
I'll put April 4th on my Calendar then.  8)

Yes really looking good, just remember folks, they are 3 people offering rides( Smalltownfan, Zima & Dan), i`m sure others would be willing too, if we keep getting additions everyday, we would have to reserve the entire pub  :D :), keep it coming.

For those who are into plants, but have not been reading the "group purchase" section of the forum check it out.  A bunch of us are going in together for a group purchase from Tropica.  The thread is called "Group Purchase from Tropica!"
