hey guys im just trying to gather info on decent units to use rather than buying the 5g jugs...
lemme know what i need to use and which ones are decent.
for saltwater.
tank is 33g with a 20gsump so i don't need one that generates tons of water.

thanks,
Corey

Depending on your water pressure no unit may generate tons of water. The unit could last several years so if you upgrade to a larger tank you may want a larger volume anyway. It's up to your budget but having to do it again I would look for a unit that had the following:

  • 1 Micron Sediment Pre-Filter
  • Carbon Block Pre-Filter
  • Deionizing resin with a color change indicator to indicate when you need to replace the DI resin
  • Resin containers should also sit vertical rather than horizontal
  • Canisters should be clear so you can see what is going on

Also, make sure there is no added drinking water stage because that tends to put back unpleasant elements in the water.

I was walking down the street and a man was hammering on a roof top and he called me a Paranoid Little Weirdo. . . in morse code.

I've been looking into RODI as well and been told this by mor ethen one person

"There are 2 good units on the market IMO. The purely H2o and the spectra pure. Both are excellent but spectra pur is more pricey by a fair bit."

There are other units out there, but not to the same standard as these two for the price. Look on Search the Reef Central forums I did alot of reading there on RODI units.

Dont forget that in Ottawa we have very high levels of chloramine so it is preferable to use a chloramine removing carbon as well.
