Fin damage

I just noticed that my male cacatoid's tail fin is all chewed up. I have a pair of kribs in that tank that I'm pretty sure have bred in the last week. Mom and dad are really protective of their cave. I'm getting rid of the kribs but wondering if the cacatoids fin will repair itself or if I need to buy him some meds.

There is a good chance the the fins grow back completely if they aren't gone completely down to the root.
