Hi, my name is David Patte. I am a Past-President of OVAS, and I've been in the hobby for about 40 years. I currently have 18 tanks.

Shortly I will be starting a new feature on this website called 'Tank Tips'. About once per week I'll be adding a new 'Tank Tip' to the front page of the website. The tip will describe a way to save money, improve your tank setup or its aesthetics. on the front page there will be a place to let you post comments related to the tip, and all feedback is welcome - even if you disagree with my advice.

Also, I am hoping that users of this website will feel free to send me by email new tips that I can use in upcoming 'Tank Tips' articles.

You can reach me at dpatte @ relativedata.com

I'd like to hear about easy plants for the beginner, also good "second" fish - you know, after you've managed not to kill your livebearers for a year!

Enjoy. And if you have comments about the tip, please post the comments there.

Question:

How does 30W of light over a 30 gallon tank work out to 1.5 watts per gallon?

And the "moral of the story" is....don't mess up 'cause BigDaddy's watching

hey dpatte, for your light setup would you happen to have any pictures of a setup as such. just curiuos what it looks like? I'm really thinking about doing it. The article has me inspired to increase the lighting in my tank.

dpatte

i have no pictures but i can take some tomorrow. I added 46W (2x23) to my 150G tank using this system. The tank had only 120 W, but the extra 46 makes a big difference.

I want to block off this thread so that people can post their reactions as comments directly on the article. please go to the bottom of the article you have comments on, and post it there.

Thanks
