Hey Tim

If you need to do some "creative" plumbing, check out these guys for fittings.
They have the largest selection of fittings I have found. Some very cool stuff.
Adam and I have bought a bunch of stuff from them recently.

yeah that is some crazy pvc fittings

nice link Jeff....even though you havent been around in a while i will still love you lol

i'm surprised Tim is this calm...i'm waiting for an explosion though...i think i will play the devil in all of this though.

Tim...if i were you i'd be breaking some skulls, i'd start with the guy who was getting the tank for you...and then the builder lol.
I'd want a $1000 back for damages or maybe a cheaper fixture ;) lol I'm really upset that there hasnt been a famous Tim rant....and it SUCKS! Blow UP ALREADY!

JD

Hey Micro, am I just imagining things or are you missing me?

Tyler.L

hey this is tims thread stop jacking it!

yes i miss you lol sorry :(

Snider82

Tim,   sometimes being tooo calm doesn't fix everything to the best. (I'm sure you know this)    u should be very stern about what you want done to help your situation.   you are very reasonable and I'm sure your solution is VERY doable on their end.     you pay good money to these people and they made the mistakes
also-
i believe its their mistake for not giving you the information (choice) on what color the seals would be.     i really hope things work out perfect for you.

Thanks everyone... I spent the past 4 years arguing with my ex-wife and it has taught me more patience than I ever thought possible... I just do not get angry anymore because there are more important things.  I'm not going to lie, when I see a guy at the airport going-off and getting upgraded to "calm him down", I do feel "hey, here I am trying to be the nice guy, and all i get for it is thanks...".  In the end, somethings, no many things are way more important than a fishtank... perspective keeps me rational... most of the time ;)

My wife gave me a really good idea for masking the glass at the top of the tank which I will likely use if I cannot get it replaced.  It's going to cost me a few bucks, but I can have a brushed stainless steel 1/2 inch rim made for the tank, simply for show.  The look would match the ATI powermodule, hide the green-glass, and I can incorporate some stainless steel into the stand design to tie it all in.  This solution is quite a good one, IMO, because it doesn't have to be done now (ie. no immediate out-of-pocket expense), and it'll keep the aesthetics of the tank.

The 13th hole is becoming the issue... I'm really working on the flow-design to ensure that I can accomplish what I want with the missing hole...  I'm working on it... well right now actually... I'll update later tonight, or get a few stiff rye into me and forget about this nonsense for the evening... ;)

Tyler.L

That was the most disappointing post we have seen on here in ever from you Tim. No Sarcasim, nothing. Oh well....Sandy is a genius for the stainless steel trim though and will make the tank cleaner imo..smart woman, keep her lol. Hopefully they 13th hole issue gets worked out but yeah should be an awesome setup none the less!

redbelly

Yeah the brushed stainless would look pretty cool, I agree.
It would also also tie into the strip on your wall to the left of the tank.

But lets see if we cant get it replaced with starphire anyways!

Hookup

Yep... Sandy really had a good idea on that one... she claims it was something i mentioned a long time ago..???.. but i don't remember and either way, she came up with it at the right time.

And yes-sir, it would integrate the look just fine with the wall....

Vincenzo.

yo that sucks man. but on the bright side, you have it now. and im sure there will be many ups and downs... but in the end it'll just work out

salvini55

hmmm the problems that make it interesting! The trim sounds like a great idea. keep on truckin and it will be going in no time, I guarantee.

(guarantee not guaranteed)

RoxyDog

Hmmm...so this certainly sucks.  If you sent the updated drawings with the extra hole, and you paid for 13 holes, they have no choice but to deliver the tank with 13 holes?  Seems to make sense to me.  Want me to call and yell at them for you?   8)  Really, I don't even know how they can try to deliver this without the last hole.  Unless I missed something here.

I forget, do you have the tank yet (don't want to go back and look haha)?  Have you paid anything besides the deposit and how did you pay the deposit?

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.  So love the people who treat you right.  Forget about the one's who don't.  Believe everything happens for a reason.  If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it.  Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

The Rim sounds cool. I have not seen my tank yet (Pat should have it delivered this week) but It probably is made the same way. I was planning on making a small hood that my two ATI fixtures can sit on (I am not allowed :( to have them hanging) so It should not be a problem.

Yours infact, does use starfire for the eurobracing.  Their logic was, it was just laying around as scrap so it was used.  Not as an upgrade, but as a cost-savings to the manufacture.

bitterman

Hookup,  I hope they quickly resolve your issues ASAP.

It's been a long wait for this tank, and now issues :(

I feel your pain, Best of luck!

Thanks,  Luckily I'm also dealing with a quality LFS (Pat at OttawaInverts) who's taking on my cause with the builder.  Not saying that anyone is guaranteeing results here... In the end, if the mfg plays hard-ball and simply says "take me to court"... I'll have to deal with it... but Pat's offered to get involved as best he can.  He was really just a middle man in the process, but any support and/or help is greatly appreciated.

Anyhow, I've got a busy week this week, then after Sunday, nothing planned... so I'll get the wall opened up, the wiring fixedered up and the stand built.  Buy the time that's all done, i'll know exactly what is happening with the tank.

Thanks for everyone's comments.. honestly, it's nice to know others as almost as involved in this process as I am... ;)

Tyler.L

Tim if you need any help let me know can come help you break some shizz....i can bring sawzall and stuff and anything else you'd need im sure i could "borrow" from work so yeah let me know!

Rybren

Tim,

Good luck with getting things sorted out to your satisfaction.  I'm sure that you must be rather p o'd with this turn of events.  I know that I would be.

So, will you have crossed fly rods mounted above the tank?  ;D
