Hello

I currently have two koi veil angelfish .... one of these angelfish have a bend in its fins .. I know this is not a sign of a healthy breeding pair, but can someone tell me how will this effect the fry, if successful ?!

Another question is, i will be getting black lace angelfish ... do they cross-bread or not ?!

Thank you

The fin could be damaged from a long time ago or fish is just stressed.
You can breed a black lace with a koi.  My angelfish are a black male, and a half-black female.
75 gal planted, t5HO, fine soft sand, powder-form hydroponic fertilizers., 5 viejita apistogramma, 1 Banjo Cat, 1 Rapheal Cat, 3 Emerald Corys, 2 black angels, 1 Bushynose Pleco, 1 molly, 5 SAEs, 2 bolivian ram, 1 kribensis.

20 gal low light sand tank, 4 white cloud mountain minnows.

An angelfish is an angelfish, no matter what the colour is...kindof like people :)

If you know that your pair are not brother and sister, it should be fine.

Just wondering where you are getting your Black Lace from, I have been looking for some.
Thanks!

I've seen some really nice black lace angels at BA on Innes when I used to work there.  Usually about 2 inches in size.  I think they were between $12-$15.  Ask and they will order them. ;)  I was in aww when I seen them before.  Very nice.

Hey
Thanks for the info .... any idea how this will affect the fry if they spawn ?! ... all website say such characteristics are a sign of an unhealth angelfish that is not a breeding quality, but now one says what would happen if they do spawn ..

BA Innes have some large ones .... veil koi and black lace .. they've been on quarantine since feb 26 cuz of fungus .... i placed my name on a list so that they would call me once they get healthy and available for sale.

It is probably better if you choose to breed angelfish, to use one without fin damage.  Chances are that its genetics are not well from possible inbreeding IF its fin was like that all the long.  Or something bit its fin bad enough one day.

I don't think the fry would look bad.  You could take a chance.  If there are any deformed fry just "cull" them.

Yeah unfortunately I've seen angelfish get all stressed out after receiving the shipment.  Its usually a slim coat infection but BA uses mela pima combo.  You should get a call then the fish are better.

Even if you get 2 angel fish that are the same colour, doesn't mean you'll get 10% fry that are like the parents.  Angels are so inbred now so that batches of fry will be almost all like the parents.  Choose your breeding stock carefully.  Choose adults that have a great conformation, have healthy fins and a robust body...especially the female.

That bent fin is going to be something you need to decide on.  Either it grew like that from the start...in which case it's not a good fish to breed, or the fin was damaged to the point that it couldn't re-grow normally. There's no way to know.

Fry will be fine, just make sure keep the tank water clean also it will take few time for them to be succesful, and some times female will try to kill the male as well!

I find often with angels bent fins are a result of being kept in a tank too small at some point.
