Didn't see this thread sooner, but we are here in good old Petawawa.  I think there are a couple more members here too that you have not heard from.
A frag swap is a great idea!  We have a pulsing xenia that has decided it owns the tank.

And I have to be honest, the pickings and assistance suck in this area (just couldn't find a more diplomatic word) so OVAS and drives to Ottawa have been a godsent!!!

We will definitely be starting another salt tank next spring, just debating the size.  I wish someone was able to clarify "big" in the expression "Go big or go home"!!!

oh the rack is just for his corals.  I had to take them out of his tank, not sure whats going on with it and I saw that they were suffering a bit.  I didn't want them to attach to my rock so I put a rack in to keep them separate.  So far, so good!  I have to figure out a way to get or DIY a skimmer for the 8g.  Why they don't make them I can't understand....unless I just haven't found one. Needless to say, I am open to suggestions.........

Yeah, pics don't show in preview, but the problem was I had my camera set to huge picture size and it was too big to upload so I had to re-size it,  then server kept timing out on me......*sigh*  Oh the patience........haha

I'm testing the tank again tomorrow but everything seemed within reason. ('seemed' being the operative word).  The zoas were in there and when they started to give me the "help me" look, I pulled them out.  Since I have a ridiculous xenia, I popped two frags in there.  There aren't faltering but they are pulsing slower.
There is a green algae happening on the walls that needs to be wiped off daily.  There was a film on the surface but I got irritated with it and used the diatom filter on it (10-15 mins).  The pods are prolific in there. The sandsifter is happy. And so are the pistol shrimp and goby.
I'll post the parameters tomorrow and hopefully it can get sorted out!

Btw, would love to attend this weekend but can't make it this time.  I think its a great idea though!

yep, every week      Pain in the butt lugging in RO water but obviously not going to use well water.   I would love to get my hands on a small RO system but for now have to be content with bringing jugs in.

Well, had a few Valley visitors the last couple weekends.

After some extensive "snooping", I see an
obvious pattern to hair algea and the p dot/vegas
bottled R.O. water. Even had a report of the
same issue in Kingston.
Maybe a community R.O. unit?

Curing is going great. I allready put two pieces back in my tank. I am so far under control. I bought an urchin and hope things are gonna be fine

So what are you doing, a bit at a time to keep the tank running?

No I took all of the rock out that had traces of Hair Algea. I placed them in the curing tank in order of severity. I had 3-5 rocks that only had traces of algea on them.  So I feel comfortable with them being placed back in the tank allready
