Hi all.  Just wondering if anyone has had some experience/problems with the EHEIM Pro 3 series.  Mine recently started leaking - not the main head gasket, but water poured out of the corner screws and the power cord area!  Needless to say, this is a not a good scenario when you have hardwood floors!

I have done a bit of reading online and some people have suggested it could be due to a worn out/faulty impeller gasket/o-ring.  I am just curious to know if anyone else in town has experienced similar problems.  I was really surprised b/c my EHEIM Pro 2 has worked flawlessly for a couple of years now, and I have only have the Pro 3 for 1.25 years.

Hey,

I have Eheim 2227 Wet/Dry filter and when I bought it, it had been sitting around for too long on a shelf and leaked like crazy. It was coming out of the wet/dry compartment, hardwood floors as well. It was the O-Ring that was doing it, needed some new lubricant to assist with the seal.

If you say yours is leaking near the O-Ring some vasaline applied to the O-Ring and where it sits might help suction it up properly and prevent the leak.

I do not know of any major technical differences that would cause it to leak otherwise. Try that, its quick, easy and if that doesnt work move on to your impeller like other people online are speaking of. Thats a bit more technical to fix I am sure than putting vasaline on a o-ring.

Hope that helps a bit!

Cheers!

Watch out for Vaseline. It is a petroleum product and will cause the O-ring to deteriorate. Plumber's silicone lubricant would be a better choice.

I am happy to say that I contacted Eheim NAHQ directly and they are sending me a whole new replacement part, which I should receive via courier tomorrow.  The filter is only 1.25 years old and has a 3 year warranty - thanks EHEIM!

Hopefully the new part fixes the leak problem....I'll keep you posted.
