Why is it that if I type a long post, after a certain number of lines (which i could figure out if you want) when I type a letter it jumps down to see the letter, but once i let go of the key it jumps back up and I can see what I typed?

It does this on my computer and on Trina's machine too.

Both of us are using explorer.

JD

Me too. Man is that ever ANNOYING!
It's like the text box is centering itself once the post gets long enough.
I have four PC's with all different Windows platforms and they all do it.
And to think, I thought it was a drug thing...needing drugs that is!

It has always done that to me, it got to the point I type it in word then cut and paste into the box otherwise I could never see typos or my sentences.

jon1985

yea it happens to me aswell, I do the same.

Same problem here, and exactly the solution I came up with.

For me, it seems to happen as soon as I run out of room in the text box you can see on your screen. Instead of the already entered text scrolling up and giving you another blank line, all heck breaks loose.

Brent Shaver

Same here, as soon as the box is full and the scioll bar comes up that is when it happens.

Rybren

Same for me.  As soon as the box is full, things go south.

I know it's an issue on my iPhone, but I've never had the problem on my home computer with FireFox.

I think I started seeing it when I upgraded to IE 8.  I believe prior to that it was OK.  Like everyone else I have the same problem described.

JD

Came across this info.

"OK, I think this is the final fix.  If you have the jiggling issue of your cursor, highlighting text, etc in message boxes with scroll bars, and you use Internet Explorer 8, you simply need to click ON the compability view button to the right of the address bar at the top of your IE8 browser.  I tried 4 complete cycles off and on...when compability is off, jiggling and jumpy as far as the cursor goes....when compability is on which means it is acting more like the IE7 version, no problem.

Conclusion:  Apparently, there are bugs between Internet Explorer 8 and Adobe Flash Player 10 and when you drop back down to Internet Explorer 7 simulation, that problem isn't there."

The compatibility view button shows up to the immediate right of the address bar before the "go" button green arrow. Mine was not there until I right clicked in that area and selected it in the drop down menu.
So far my issue is gone. Who knows what else as a result will show up.

I think you nailed it JD.
Same problem here.
I have had nothing but problems and aggravation with IE8.
Will have to try the compatibility view.
Prefer using Firefox or Google Chrome - less problems - actually no problems that I can recall that were not easily fixed with a patch or plug-in upgrade.

Thanks

JD

I have has no problems since I applied the fix.

Hope it works for everyone else experiencing the same problem.

Unfortunately the underlying problem still exists until IE fixes it.

FYI:
If you write a long msg and find that your msg box is flipping up and down and being crazy annoying, copy the msg BEFORE you hit that compatability view button near the url...
If you dont your long msg will be deleted  >:(

Nice, the fix makes the problem go from annoying to downright frustrating.
Actually, the fix should be someone smacking Mircrosoft™ right in the kisser.

Interesting. I'm using IE9 Beta and it seems with this version, Mr. Gates has continued his tradition of trying to think for us. According to the only help resource available for IE9, which is online only, the compatibility button doesn't appear in your browser toolbar unless IE9 detects a website which it thinks might be incompatible. If it does, a button will pop up which you can use to switch to compatibility mode. Otherwise, the feature seems unavailable. IE9 obviously doesn't see a compatibility problem with OVAS because I don't see the button and can find no other way to change modes. Anyone else using this beta version seeing something different? I've got other browsers loaded up that I can use, but I'm trying to give this IE9 Beta a fair trial.

Thanks again Bill.

RossW

FYI... I just upgraded to IE 9 and this problem is not occuring for me.

The day IE is fixed is the day Bill Gates is arrested for creating the worlds largest virus. :)
