hey guys, I'm trying to watch an Hd file
what codec do i need to be able to watch MKV File on windows media player
thank you

Windows media player is junk! 

Get VLC player.  This plays everything you throw at it.

Or download Media Player Classic.  search google for K-Lite Codec Pack.  Its included with that.

i have k_lite, not working
but VLC player, wow, I'm impress, merci Pat

Interesting about k-lite.  I have the mega pack and it plays everything.  Including MKV files.  Just had to manually tell Media Player Classic to play them by default.

Agreed vlc is they way to go plays anything including partial files
