I write Frontosa because those are what I am planning on getting, and because I believe they prefer obscurity.
However I am likely to run low wattage lights for 8 hrs a day anyway.

So like the subject says: I am looking to find out approximately what the monthly cost is to run a tank of this size.

Lights 8 Hrs Daily
Filter  24/7 Eheim Pro III
Heaters x2 whenever they kick in ( who knows )

Thanks in advance.

Do you live in Ottawa or Gatineau ?
There is a big difference.
7 tanks running of African cichlids

I live in Ottawa, therefore Hydro One.
( I hope we're cheaper than Gatineau ).

*Clarification, as I don't want this to get complicated.

Based on a basic 135 gallon, tropical, "non insulated" tank in a normal indoor environment.
How much is it costing you per month in Hydro?
This is a group of "Frontosas"

Thanks to all for the input so far.

Toss

rough calculation based on 200w on 24/7 and $0.064/kwH.

200x30x24/1000x0.064=$9.22
75 gal - Mosquito rasbora, Bushynose pleco, RCS
9 gal - CRS
40 gal - Longfin Albino Bushynose pleco, RCS

Wow, that's not bad.

I had expected higher numbers, but this is good news.

Now for which tank to get.

I am thinking a 180 or a 135 over the 220, I have room to put a longer tank, but don't like the idea of a tank coming out 30 + inches from the wall.

Thanks again.

I had a 140 with a 250w heater for my frontosas when i had them. i didnt rreally notice a huge increase when i started dont forget the new rates when after 7 pm etc.  Buy a timmer 8 hrs is plenty for them how many you looking to get there was a really good deal here not long ago somebody was selling there colony.
