First time I've heard of it, though I'm kinda behind the times!!

but it appears that Sony has been compromised and while they are unsure regrading credit card information, other personal data has been stolen.

Ahhh the times we live in...a digital era with digital information to steal.

Better yet, go outside and play :)  That's still free and doesn't require any digital information that can be stolen!

I do not even know to work his game box but it is amazing what that system does. It connects to your shared PC as a media server to watch HD and listen to music and view your aquarium pictures and hockey videos & pictures from your child entire hockey career - our son's is 6 years an counting. And yes it plays games that he loves.

The word is the PS-N will be down maybe another week.... but that doesn't affect your media servers!  8) OH forgot to mention PS3 also plays Blu-Ray and was one of the 1st HD players available.

The reality of it is anything hooked  up to the WWW is vulnerable to hackers.  In most cases they wont bother with home users as it isn't much of a challenge to break the firewalls.  If the government cant keep out hackers home users have no chance.

A lot of people will get a credit card with a very low credit limit to use for on line purchases, this does bring down the chance of losing great amounts versus a couple hundred dollars due to a site being attacked.

Rule of thumb is if the company has a team working on keeping the site secure, there is hundreds or more out there trying to prove it isnt secure.

Disposable credit cards work great too :)

You can't keep them out.  Its just a matter of staying a head of the game and preventing the next hole to open up in your infrastructure.  I don't care much about my personal computer information because honestly like you said.  If they want it, they will take it.  But who am I to them?  No one.

we don't play the ps3 online much so didn't notice hahahaha and xbox I love it :D but we don't play online either

and you know what, even before the WWW people's identity was stolen, it's just a matter of how the information is stolen! A bank holds all your information, and people used to hack them/rob them...sooo it's just changed on how easy it is to acquire info :)  That is why, when you're asked for your birthdate/birthplace etc for those personal questions, don't answer correctly!!!  One bank I used to bank with I had all my info set to other months, places, but I forgot what country I said I was from ;) LOL was a bit of a hassle retrieving info!

oh and better yet, play Guild Wars ;) My guild is looking for more members ;) hahaha

I received the email right around dinner time today.  I had bought one of the first ones and hooked it all up etc, then the thing crashed and when I tried to see about getting it fixed them told me they would send me a box and for a low low price (not that low) I could send it to them and they would repair or replace.

The box never came and I ended up selling the broke unit for $50 to a guy that fixes them.  Not impressed I paid large for a system that didnt last and now I get the joys of taking all the precautions that I dont get an even bigger reward for wasting my money.

This is one time I wish I lived in the States where I could get into one of those class action suits.

The best part is they thanked me for my patience...  I wonder if they will still think I am patient once they get the email I just sent them.

+1 for the love of Sony Jet

That is one thing I have to give xbox credit for, bought one of the original 360's when they first came out had it for a year, it broke, called them, they sent me a box UPS sent it to them and within a week I had it back working. Had a couple buddies with the same problem and every time it was handled the same way.
