Trip to Gatineau Hills

It was a fun trip as always to Gatineau Hills. I took some great shots but here are a few that were the best. We did get held up by a slow poke check it out below... LOL

Looks like a snapper turtle; we used to get one every 2-3 years in our pond at the farm.

Although roughly 60% of their population live up to 50-60 yo,  with a bit of luck these guys can live well up to 150 !!  Unlike other species, survivorship does *not* decrease with age, that is a pretty unique characteristics of these tortoises.   I've seen a few up close (maybe too close - they can bite off a finger in a split-second, despite their slow pace) and they are absolutely stunning.  I love 'em ;-)
