Fish do NOT like deep blue nail polish....all of them are attacking me!! I generally don't wear polish when cleaning tanks but today I have festive dark blue polish on for 4th of July :D and the convicts in the 20 attacked me, then the kribs, and now Strider (severum) and Crazy G (gourami) attacked me! they aim straight for the polish...wonder what it is about it they don't like?? I've worn other colours (though I'm generally a neutral colour kinda gal!)

What is something your fish don't like??? :)

They also enjoy a good stare down...stare at them ,and the glo lights will stop what they are doing and all turn at once and stare...it's kinda creepy

I used to have a batch of Kili's that used to attack my knuckles; not my fingers, not not my nails, only my knuckles ...

My clown fish - Chuckles named by my son LOL - attacks me if I am to close to his torch coral. he actually bites my knuckles.

Added a figure 8 puffer to my marine tank if I stand there for a bit he comes to the front to stare me down... you can even see him wink at you... to cute love those characters!

Other thing I turn off my return pump to feed - soon as that happens all the fish come to the front and closer to the top waiting for their food. Fish aren't all that dumb... ;)

They are just opinated about the colors of nail polish you are allowed to wear.  8)

I could be wrong, but I think blue would be a colour that would stand out lots to fish,

Hookup

I'll tell you that BLUE is my secret color for fishing...

I never knew why it worked, but it does work.  I know that Red's lose color at depths over 30feet (or so) and obviously dark reds will go blacker faster... and the Blue holds it's color deepest (blue waves penetrate the water deeper than red)

Maybe BLUE is also some kind of "what is that?" color and fish attack first and ask questions later...

dunno, but BLUE is my fishing color on many a days...  :P

crazy!
so guess now if I want to catch my fish just use my blue polish!! and it's only the dark blue...i used a glitter pale blue and they didn't care...but this dark blue, they went nuts!

I've got grey on now and stuck a finger in...nadda other than the platys but they like testing everything :)

it's interesting how fish react to colour

with all these weird posts I need a wall of weird :D

Have any of you sat and watched your fish during a storm? We had a wicked storm come up, and before any of us felt it coming, the dog made a hasty exit, the fish suddenly vacated middle of the tank and everyone went into hiding...and stayed there till the storm passed! now the stupid tetras and guppies could care less, they'd be the ones swept away in a storm ha but the bottom dwellers were all under cover!

Oh for sure, I usually get a good spawn around bad weather.

On a side note commenting on other animals, our horses can
be tricky, as in jumpy to handle if there is a storm in the area. They know it's coming
before we do. Especially if it's really windy

My family has a herd of 60+ horses.  Very interesting to watch them behave before a storm.  Funny how humans evolved differently than other animals; it's pretty much just us who can't (or very hardly) feel changes in the atmospheric pressure (this is what animals feel first, then they can hear much better than we do, and they can feel vibrations in the ground as well)

I remember few years ago there was an earthquake, our dog started acting up at least 10-15 minutes prior. We had no idea what was wrong with her !!  The horses didn't care that much on the other hand... probably because their hoofs isolate a lot of vibrations from the ground.
