I don't get it. I try it in my regular tanks and I have nothing but troubles. (Or I have had nothing, up until ONE that is finally surviving in my 38 gallon now! Whee!) But I got two cheapy swords a while back now and tossed them into my turtle tank, which has a thick covering of duckweed, and maybe about 30w of light on it, and VOILA, they're doing fantastic. I just don't get it.

what other plants do you have growing in the tank?

AFAIK echinodorus's generally need some mulm in the gravel, they are getting the nutrients from it.

Generally I put some root tabs for echinodoruses and crypto's.
I'll try Flourite with the next tank I'm setting up.
