Hi all,
I would like to buy a quiet sum pump for my 60 gal. I don't want the submerge pump. Would you please give me advice of what kind of pump and where to buy.
Thank you for your help

I got a Water Blaster HY-3000 Pump
i dont hear a thing in my sump
it can be use in or ext.
370g System

220g tank, 65g Sump. octopus Cone skimmer xp-5000, vertex zf-30 nitrate reactor, RX6 DUO Ca reactor, Mp60w Ecotech pump, 2x 400w MH XM bulbs 15k. All controlled with DA RKE-net controller, Water Blaster HY-3000 return pump, Vertex Zf-15/Carbon, Vertex Zf-15/GFO

"Experts" recommend Eheim 1262, which gives about 900 gallons/hour @ 65 Watts and is about as silent as you'll get.

Water Blaster HY-3000 is 750 gallons/hours @ 37 watts..   Someone on some other forum (thanks Google!) claims that they are "low quality", having had 3 unforgivable failures. *shrug*

with the cost of electricity these days, wattage is pretty important - especially since sumps run 24hrs a day.

Do some research on your own, but these are two good pumps.  I've also heard good things about Tunze pumps...

@GW - did you happen to get the feet-of-head-pressure rating for those pumps too?  some are good a flow but not lifting water... i had to get to a big pump (reeflow wahoo) for my setup which has 14 or so feet of lift from basement to tank...

I only noticed somewhere a "usable lift" of around 7 feet with "more than enough flow for my 50G"... not sure exactly what numbers that equates to. :)

Hi all,
Thank you very much for your advices

redbelly

Eheim is tried tested and a true work horse.
They are dead quiet and I know a couple of hobbiests that have had these pumps running for well over 10 years.

The bubble blasters are quiet sometimes and louder other times but draw crazy low power.
They may last a long time too, but as they have only been out on the market for a couple years its impossible to say for sure yet.
