I am thinking of starting a private website and don't mind to pay a couple of bucks every month for good service. Things I will need is good availability/reliability, email, own domain, maybe databases. I don't really know what else I would need at this point, but I guess the more there is included for little $$$ the better.

I know there are some folks on this board that do have experience with this. Any help is appreciated.

I use Netfirms.ca for mine.  Price was right as I got 2 Domains / Hosting for $120/year.  Find the right coupons and you can get it even cheaper :)  I wouldn't use them for rHigh Volume sites unless you upgrade to dedicated services, but so far I am happy with them over all.

Thanks, they do have an interesting offer with 2.49/month:

Kinda strange though that I can't seem to find the regular rates in CAD from them.

They were based in Toronto when I went with them, don't know if thats still the case however my bills from them are always in US funds.

I use http://myhosting.com/. They are Canadian owned and operated. I've experienced very, very little downtime with them. They have a $4.95 US per month service that includes free domain name, unlimited space and bandwidth, 3 MySQL databases, etc. I've had my site with them for about 15 months and haven't had any problems at all.

I used Coolcom.com...  They're in Brandon, Manitoba.  I switched to them after Network Solutions (American provider) failed for OVER A MONTH to update their DNS to fix a horrendous mail delay.  The DNS error was caused by them, as I didn't have the ability to change the priority of MX records (same priority = confused mail delivery, it seems).

As soon as I switched to Coolcom.com, everything flowed beautifully.  They're very helpful and had me up and running in no time.

Free domain, $5.95 /month for web hosting... I really haven't scratched the surface of the features I get from them.  (in other words, I haven't had time to build a website there)

I'm using dotcanada.com, no problems with them for the past several years.  A change in ownership 4-5 years ago was a bit of a disaster, but they seemed to have learned their lesson.  Hardly any downtime, lots of email addresses, bandwidth, etc.

Thanks everyone for their comments so far.
Maybe you can also share if you had some bad experiences with any web hosting company.
