Just wanted to show off my new baby!  :-*

After searching for years, I finally found a beautiful african lungfish!!! This is one of my favorite species, I think they are just plain incredible and fascinating!  He's exactly 24 inches long, his head is about the size of a can of coca cola.
I feed him a variety of foods: chicken hearts, octopus rings, shrimps, small fish etc. He will eat anything.

I currently have him in a 125g. It's temporary, I am looking for a bigger tank, at least 30" wide. I'd really like to pack this tank with a lots of rocks, caves branches etc. I had some fish with him but moved them to another tank, I just kept the goldfish, flying foxes and botias with him.

The first day in the tank, he felt like redecorating! He started moving some 10-15lbs boulders around with his head, he broke pieces of my driftwood logs with his mouth (one piece has been devoured completely!) He tried to bury himself in the gravel but ended up making one huge pile of gravel in a corner, the other corner you could see the the entire glass... He gnaws on everything!  I'm actually afraid of leaving the heater there. He chewed the filter return too...

It's not a fish, it's a teething bored pup!  lol

Yesterday I decided to remove most of the stuff that was bugging him. I took out all the gravel, I had about 40lbs. I took out some of the rocks, I left the big slates. And I also took out the dirftwood. He tone down a bit, he's pretty inactive and just sleeps at the bottom now. He has way more space now too. He seems pretty okay with plants, he didnt really touch those. I'm gonna try him with plants and just attach them to the slates, so it makes a nice little jungle for him to hide.  I'll try to get some hornworths unattached so it can cover a part of the surface. Hopefully, he's gonna love it and feel more comfortable in the tank.

I also made a little video of him eating, it's THE cutest thing I have ever seen!! I will upload it today if I have time.

WOW! First I've seen but it looks amazing! Does it not try and come in for a bit with your hands so close?

I hand feed him from time to time, but I watch my fingers closely lol... He usually inhales the stuff from my hand, he dosent come in contact with me really. He's not afraid of me but he won't  come close either.

He's really awesome!  I have to show you guys the video of him eating a shrimp lol... His munching is so cute!! haha

Nice fish... Does he go for 'walks'?.

We brought one of these into one of the stores I used to manage in Edmonton and every morning the lid was busted open and he had gone for a 'walk'... he would either climb into another tank and clean it out or go for a walk around the the store... quite an entertaining fish...

Oops, I haven't checked that post in a while!  ;D Sorry guys...

I got him from a guy in Perth, he didn't want him anymore. He was housed with 4 bala sharks.

Mine hasn't climbed out of the tank yet! I don't have a tight fitting lid and I leave him a big space so he can stick his head out and breathe.
He is very well fed, I think that's what keeps him calm.

The tank was empty cause I had to separate the sand from the rocks and then separate the small rocks from the big rocks, since the lungfish swallows them whole. So I removed everything for a while, but now it's back to normal.

(oh and yes, you DO hear a pig in the background, it's not your imagination lol)
