Plantaholics Anonymous - Next get together is on March 18th, 2012

I'm coming and also don't know what to bring. Did someone say they were bringing some beer? I could bring a couple bottles of wine? I don't cook?!?!

Fruits always go good or crackers and cheese...I've got grapes and I saw strawberries on sale.

I'll have honey and garlic meatballs to complete Errol's dish. I've got typical munchies and maybe some type of cake desert...my husband mentioned making something tonight and I'm not going to stop him! lol

But if you have the wine already, bring it on!

I`m bringing a bit of Blyxa Japonica & a very small bit of Glosso.
So who else would be coming, just post here so the host is aware how much people she can expect, all  that is required is a love for planted tanks & of course a desire to share experiences.

Hi Errol, I've been following this post very closely and it seems that most of the first crowd will be there with a few additionals...I'm estimating around 15 people or so. That's totally fine since people will be bringing something - food or otherwise! We should be good. Oh and i wanted to mention that I have a hot buffet serving tray with 3 compartments so we have means of keeping food hot...I'll be using the crockpot for the honey and garlic meatballs.

My kids took turns puking over March Break.  They stop, it gets really, really nice out, and obviously now it's my turn.   

Putting myself in the quarantine tank, so I don't get the rest of you fishies sick.

I stuck some green stuff in my tanks a year or so ago, and can't believe Peter's tank after about 6 months.

I have a loooong way to go, but I am totally encouraged! I am going to turn my green mess into something that is more peaceful than chaotic. Thanks for the inspiration folks - I'm looking forward to learning from you.

Cant wait for the road trip!

There is a problem with the road trip that we spoke of at the meeting: I looked in the 'discount' at Discount and (a) they have no 7 passenger vehicles at that time, and (b) they are closed on Friday and only open 'till 11:30 AM the Saturday which adds at least a full day and possibly two full days for a trip at that time (we spoke of Easter weekend, April 6 and 7). I checked Budget and Enterprise and they are either also closed or showing no vehicles (of any size) available for the 5, 6, 7 of April.

I looked at Discount the following weekend and there are still no 7 passenger vehicles available. Budget and Enterprise (on the following weekend) have vehicles but the cost becomes too steep for my Scottish blood. We are looking at about $55 each (rental, mileage costs over 400 km, and taxes in, no insurance included). It wouldn't cost me twice that in gas only in my own vehicle. So, if we have a minimum of 3 going, the costs would be approximately half ($90 for gas divided three ways).

Any comments? Perhaps we should have a show of virtual hands as to who is committed to go: (a) on Easter weekend, (Apr 6, 7) or (b) on the weekend following (Apr 13, 14); and thirdly, who would still be interested if we caravaned with 2 vehicles. G
