Hi Eric, sure does look like you need more intensity, did you pursue the Tek light path?

It looks really nice Eric. Is that a Hagen Elite mini you have in there (top-left)? Are you using it for circulation? Eric

Thanks Eric, no it's just a sealand fountain pump, pumps about 100gph, and yes, it's to get really good circulation of the co2 and other nutrients. I've had some algae issues because I'm not getting enough circulation and I'm using a soil based substrate - ADA aquasoil.

Errol, yeah the glosso height and lack of red colours are telling me it's not enough. I have 6 bulbs x 14w which works out to 3.3wpg but I think it's not enough because they're regular T5s not HO. Here's what I've been looking at getting, let me know what you think...http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/sl-t5nw2404/Sunlight+Supply+New+Wave+4+Bulb+T5+Fixture+%2824+Inch%2C+4x24W%29.html

Looking really nice.

Lower light intensity isn't a bad thing here. Yes , glosso isn't as dense, but give it a few more weeks and it fill in as well. Unless you want to see red, there is no need to change.
be aware of the green side

The light should be fine.Have you checked with Ray`s Aquatic, i think he can get those.

About six weeks ago I planted some glosso up front to help farm it before using it in my new 7g setup...

And if I was wondering if my light was intense enough, this picture should answer that question, the glosso has grown half way up the meet the lights.

A couple of changes since the explosion of glossostigma, I decided to incorporate some really nice rocks I was able to come across and add some nano sized interesting creatures - 7 chili rasboras and 10 cherry shrimp. So far so good.

Jealous.... Very jealous... I need to get mine up and running with a little more pizzaz.

daworldisblack

Lol.. andrew.. pizzaz = 125Gal :p Get it up now! Haha.. Nice one Eric! I am envious of your Chilli crew! They must be tiny! Good thing you got some plant cover up top too. Mine have jumped since I rescaped and am down a few -_-" Got a top on it now but plant cover works! Neat scape too!

Lovely, Eric.
I admire how you've handled scale in a smallish tank.

Thanks Andrew, Rah and peekay. Rah, I'm hoping la niche gets more chilis in their next shipment. At first I thought I had bought all females becaue their colours were a bit dull, but within two weeks they began to really brighten up (the males), awesome fish!

Lets see some close up shots! How much were they? I might beef up my group as well. Now i just see 3 and I don't see me putting any other species in there - the chilli's are perfect!

The rocks look great.  If I may ask, what was the source?

Yeah, I think they look like the popular ryuoh stone used in nature aquariums. BA's in Kanata just got a shipment in last weekend, and I bought some extras for my 7g nano. Can't remember what they've labeled them as.

I wish. These fish move like crazy and my camera sucks. I've got the chilis in there with some lemon tetra fry, but I think I'm gonna have to move the tetras soon, they'll start to out complete the chilis for food. I'd like to keep it a single species tank.

Just a quick update on this setup. Got bored and decided to redo the setup after finding some nice seiryu stones with lots of character. I'm going with the dry start method, with Hemianthus micranthemoides, glossostima elatenoides and very little Hemianthus callitrichoides.  Please ignore the unfinished basement background.

Loving it, I have gone with a similar scape in my 15 gallon  but with 5 rocks, keep us posted as it develops.
