My frontosa is looking bloated and appears to be missing scales on the side. all the scales are lifted up and he's not eating properly. Does anyone know what i should do. I've isolated him and put in some furan2.

How did this start?  What else is in the tank with him?  What size is he?  What size is the tank?  Has anything changed recently in the tank?

Give as much detail as possible!

Sounds like he's pineconing. Typial sign of dropsy. Unfortunately I'm no incredibly familiar with how to cure dropsy. But I know someone on these forums saved their goldfish from it. Squeeker or goldfish4life maybe?

Yah I would concur after thinking about it....possibly dropsy/bloat type of infection.

You could use these articles as pointers:

How are the water conditions and water changes?  Generally dropsy is more of a cause of poor water conditiions over time for the most part?

its a 50gal 3 frontosa, kasier II, common and bn pleco and i do 40% water changes every week or bi weekly. However he has not been eating properly for the past month. All other fish are very healthy.

Well I would definitely say he either has Bloat or Dropsy and you should treat accordingly, hopefully it's not too late. :(

i think its too late, he always hides in his cave and i didn't notice it. I'm going to try to save him but i'm going to have to medicate him.

Thats unfortunate, let us know how it works out!  :(

Do you guys know the sign that your fish is healing. The pineconing is going away slightly. But it appears the scales are falling off too ? I got some marycn II to heal him but do you guys know of any other alternatives to heal ?
