Happened to me recently, I thought I had lost all of our family pictures, devasting. I was able to recover my files and since then upgraded to a small local SSD with a Network Area Storage device holding 2 HDDs with nightly backups. I recommend this setup to everyone.

Let's just say I sleep better at night now

Have a look at the following post on bagging fish. I've been to a few auctions and most fish do just fine.
