I wasn't  happy with my HOB - hooked up to a surface skimmer -  in the 90g, so I shut it off last week, planning to take it apart and redo the spray bar. Any how, this afternoon the Mrs noticed that the spray bar wasn't working so she turned it on, ....After supper I noticed that the smails were at the waterline and fish were gasping, A quick water test showed Ph normal, Am 0, Nitrite 0....Nitrate OFF OF THE CHART! the vial was ruby red! Quick 90% water change, put the HOB in the sink and we're OK..I hope.
