and this is why you use an RODI...not to say it still may not of happen.

These guys must have test kits..  Why don't they test the water themselves, and then tell the water company what's wrong rather than just telling the water company to test it?  After getting the answer back from the water company that nothing is wrong, hire someone to test it beyond what our aquarium test kits can do..... and then sue the heck outta the water company.

There's a fellow on RC (PaulB) who had his tank almost completely wiped out (on 2 different occasions) when the his local water company added zinc-something-or-other to the water supply to clean out the pipes.  He was using an RO/DI filter, but it still go through.  He now uses an additional stage that blocks zinc-whatza-whozits

not to mention that spring time I believe they up the dosage of Chloramines
to flush the lines for awhile. I never drink tapwater myself.

Yep.  RODI adds an extra layer of protection for water quality issues.

But these were tropical fish tanks in the article, not marine.  And IIRC, it's generally recommended to not use RODI water in freshwater tanks unless you plan on supplementing heavily.

not sure, no idea about fresh... but the junk would / could have been filtered if using RO/DI... so def would have wiped marine tanks without RO/DI..

(Please agree that I didn't waste my money on an RO/DI... LOL...)
