Sunday was water change day so I moved some plants around.  The laceleaf and the aponogeton boivinianus which is doing equally badly got moved to a more central location in my tank.  More light I hope PLUS I put a root tab between them.  I got 90% of the duckweed out as well.  Lets see how this works.

Here's a pic of the pathetic new leaf and one of the tank's inhabitants.  I wish I had 100 of them in there!  I only bought 20.

Love your Chilli Rasbora ! Its super red! I have a tiny group of 5 lol. Where'd u get yours from?

The old Frank's Aquarium in Toronto.  I think I've had them for about a year.  I can't remember exactly.  I just know they were super cheep and I walked out of the shop with over $100 in fish that day...bags and bags!!

I was just down there in March and his store was definitely closed, the tanks and other things were still there, but the shop was closed.

Awesome fish (mosquito/chili rasboras)! Rah, you and this article, have peaked my interest immensely http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=2713

We're totally thread jacking! :)

I also have 6 Boraras maculatus in with them along with the 12 CPD's and shrimp.  The Boraras maculatus are slightly bigger and the males are just as red...the one in the article is quite pale, so maybe a female?  Most of mine like to hang out in the cluster of vals with the CPD's, but I have a rogue group who swim out in the open.

I've seen Boraras urophthalmoides at BA a long time ago.  They were really skinny though and I didn't buy them.

This is my aquarium for the teeny fish and shrimp.  I'm waiting for some healthy looking pygmy cory cats to add to the mix :)

Nice! The Boraras brigittae is still my favourite of the the genus.
It's not hijacking when it's your thread . ;)

Since this part of the thread was moved from the planted tank section, here's the pic that inspired the discussion:

Has anyone read the latest edition of amazonas magazine, in particular the article about boraras on page 56. http://edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk/reef_to_rainforest.aspx?eid=0bfd7d6a-491e-42f6-b544-eb56c1a64e2f.
Really good article for all those like myself who're into nano fish.

I picked up some of these guys from La Niche last week for my 15 gallon shrimp tank. It took them 4 or 5 days to settle in and stop swimming up and down in the back corner. They have now spread out nicely and have coloured up well.
17 Gallon Seapora Crystal:: Cherry shrimp and red crystal shrimp

90 Gallon:: p. acei itunji, p. elongatus chewere, p. Saulosi, cyno zebroides jalo reef

Yeah, I ended up picking up 14 of these myself from la niche about a month ago, and to my surprise, and only after reading the article in amazonas, did I realize two of them are actually boraras merah (phoenix rasboras) amongst chili rasboras, nice surprise to say the least.

Great article!!  Thanks for posting.  I found it odd that he was not having success with keeping his boraras with CPD's because of the boisterous nature of the CPD's.  That's exactly what I've been doing and they seem to be perfectly OK.  Then again, he's talking about keeping them in small tanks.  I have mine in a 40 gallon long (48 x 13 x 13)so perhaps that has something to do with the difference in results.  I can see where he's coming from for sure though.  There is a big difference between the species as far as their eating habits are concerned, so I also agree with him.  I would never keep the species together in a small tank.

What I enjoyed was that he described my set-up as if he were reading my mind!!  Lots of plants and driftwood, fine sand and rocks.  Plus he mentioned several species which I've been on the look-out for to add to the tank.  This is my mini fish tank!  If anyone sees any of the corydoras he was talking about, please PM me asap!

So far there are boraras, CPD's, cherry shrimp, amano shrimp and a bushynose pleco in the tank.  The pleco is only 2.5" but it looks like a monster sized fish by comparison!  Soon I'll be adding some sparkling gouramis, the scarlet badis and some samurai gouramis...well, in 6 weeks when they make it through quarantine!
