I was wondering if there are any fish conventions that come to Ottawa? We have Fancy Goldfish, Angelfish, and Bettas.

Not that I'm aware of, we're most likely too small of a community to be considered. Try googling CAOAC convention.

We would love host the CAOAC convention and we have been ask but we lack the volunteer numbers to pull it off.

Really? That's something I would volunteer for, for sure. I also have a 16 year old at home that could pitch in if need be. Just saying.

I highly doubt that JetJumper!! We would likely get more Montreal people and further east.

If you have not been to a convention, you should go!! People come from all over Canada & the US...it's really quite something!! Ottawa has been asked to sponsor this event, but as Sylvia said, right now we lack the volunteers...it will take some serious volunteering to pull this off!!

If you are seriously interested in helping us with this venture, send us a PM and let us know what you can do!! :)

What makes you say that?  When was the last time you went to a CAOAC convention?  What a joy-kill comment  >:(

JetJumper

I guess my comment was misunderstood and thought to be negative.  I will re explain.

What I mean is that everyone in the hobby I am sure will want to volunteer and help out! (Good thing) Leaving no one left to attend since they are already there. (Due to smaller population then Toroto + area or Montreal + area. etc..).

Its more of a comical comment then a negative comment.  I am sorry you misinterpreted..

Me too, Lisa

I hope to go the next CAOAC convention in Edmonton, probably in May 2013

... but even sooner than that, I will be going to the Ohio Cichlid Extravaganza weekend in Cleveland Ohio in November of this year ... and I have met people from Ottawa there before :)

Yes, the Ohio convention is on November 16 to 18th.  This is an event you should go to
if you want to live/see and talk fish stuff to great people. This is an event you will remember
and real great prices on fish and equipment, since you can bring $800.00 each back
over the border.
